About TropicalInfo
Real-time tracking and analysis of tropical weather systems — built for everyone from first-time storm watchers to weather professionals.
Our mission
Provide accurate, timely, and accessible tropical weather information so communities can prepare for and respond to tropical weather threats. We translate raw National Hurricane Center data into useful, location-aware insights — without the cable-news drama.
What we do
- Real-time tracking — live updates on every active tropical system as NHC issues them.
- Location-specific impact — county-aware summaries telling you what a storm means for your area, not the next county over.
- Satellite and radar — high-resolution GOES-19 satellite views, NEXRAD composites from 30+ sites.
- Forecast models — GFS, GEFS, HAFS, ECMWF model runs with consensus analysis.
- Historical context — every named Atlantic storm since 1851 (HURDAT2), searchable and cross-referenced.
- Multi-channel alerts — push, email, SMS, Discord, Slack, Pushover.
Data sources
We pull from official, authoritative sources:
- National Hurricane Center (NHC) — advisories, discussions, forecasts, graphics
- NOAA Satellite Services — GOES-19, GOES-18 imagery
- National Weather Service — local watches, warnings, advisories
- Global Forecast System (GFS) and ensemble (GEFS)
- European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF)
- HRRR, HAFS, and other regional/specialized models
